Your data
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Ranker Faculty handles, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. Ranker Faculty is operated by Vandana Yadav, who decides how and why this data is used.
In short
- You can use the workspace without an account. Your papers, templates, logos, own questions and Material Studio files stay in your browser. We do not upload them.
- Accounts are not open yet. When they open, they will be by invitation only, and for an account we will keep your email address and the records needed to sign you in, count your daily limits and manage your pass.
- Payments will be handled by Razorpay. We never see your card number, UPI PIN or bank login.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising trackers.
- Ranker Faculty is for adult educators. There are no student accounts.
1. What stays on your device
Paper building and Material Studio document processing run in your browser. The following are stored in your browser's storage on your device and are not sent to us:
- papers you save, paper templates, headers and institute logos;
- questions and solutions you add yourself ("My Content"), teaching plans and resource collections;
- PDFs and images you open in Material Studio, which are processed in browser memory and released when you clear them or close the tab.
This storage is not encrypted and does not sync between devices. Anyone who uses the same browser profile may be able to see it. Backups you export are readable files, so keep them safe. Cloud save is not available; if we add it, we will update this policy and ask you before anything is uploaded.
2. Personal data we handle
Today the workspace works without an account, and we do not create accounts or take payments. The account, sign-in, plan and payment rows below apply once invited accounts and checkout open.
| Type | What it includes | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Account (when invited accounts open) | Your email address, an account ID, the date you joined, your invitation, and any profile details you choose to add, such as a display name. | To create your account, sign you in and contact you about it. |
| Sign-in and security | One-time sign-in codes (which expire), sign-in and session records, and counters used to limit repeated attempts. | To keep your account secure and prevent abuse. |
| Plan and usage | Your plan, pass start and end dates, and how many papers and questions you generate each day, with a record of each generation request. | To apply your plan's daily limits fairly and avoid counting a retry twice. |
| Payments | Razorpay order and payment IDs, amount, currency, date and time, status, payment method type (for example UPI or card), and refund or dispute status. Razorpay may share with us the contact details you enter at checkout. | To confirm payment, start your pass, issue receipts, process refunds, handle disputes and keep financial records required by law. |
| Support | Emails and attachments you send us, and our replies. | To help you and keep a record of complaints. |
| Technical | IP address, browser and device type, the time and address of requests, and error and security logs. | To deliver the website, keep it secure, prevent abuse and fix problems. |
3. What we do not collect
- Card numbers, CVVs, UPI PINs or bank logins. Razorpay handles these.
- Passwords. Invited accounts, when they open, will use one-time email codes instead.
- Students' personal data. Please do not enter it.
- The contents of documents you process in Material Studio or papers saved in your browser.
4. How we use personal data
We use personal data only to run Ranker Faculty: to provide your account and plan, apply limits, take payments and give refunds, send service emails, answer support requests and complaints, keep the service secure, and meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. When invited accounts open, we will ask for your consent to this policy when you create an account, and you can withdraw it at any time (see section 8). We do not sell personal data, rent it, or use it for advertising.
We may disclose personal data if the law requires it, for example to a court or government authority, and we share payment information with Razorpay and banks when needed to process a refund or dispute.
5. Service providers who process data for us
| Provider | What they do | Their privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts and delivers the website, protects it against attacks and automated traffic, and forwards email sent to our support address. It processes IP addresses and request logs. | cloudflare.com/privacypolicy |
| Supabase | When invited accounts open: account sign-in (one-time email codes) and the account database. | supabase.com/privacy |
| Resend | When invited accounts open: sends sign-in codes and service emails to your email address. | resend.com/legal/privacy-policy |
| Razorpay | Will process payments, refunds and disputes once checkout opens (Razorpay Software Limited; contact details on the Pricing page). | razorpay.com/privacy-policy |
| Hosts the inbox that receives emails sent to our support address, and delivers the web fonts used by the workspace (Google Fonts). Font requests carry ordinary web request data, such as your IP address, not your documents. | policies.google.com/privacy |
These providers process data on our instructions and under their own security commitments.
6. Processing outside India
Some of these providers may store or process personal data outside India, for example to deliver email. Where this happens we rely on the provider's contractual and security commitments, and we will follow any restriction on transfers that the Government of India notifies.
7. How long we keep data
- Account data: while your account is open, and deleted within 30 days after it is closed, except as below.
- Payment and invoice records: for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, even after your account is closed. Razorpay also keeps its own records of payments made through it.
- Security logs: up to one year.
- Support emails and complaints: up to 24 months.
- Data in your browser: until you delete it or clear your browser data. We cannot delete it for you.
8. Your rights and choices
You can ask us to:
- give you a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- correct or update your personal data;
- delete your account and personal data, except records the law requires us to keep;
- stop processing based on your consent (withdrawing consent). You can do this by closing your account. It does not affect processing already done, and we may still keep records the law requires;
- let a person you nominate exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to act.
To make a request, email support@rankerfaculty.com from the email address on your account, so we can confirm it is you. We will respond within one month. Your saved papers are already on your device; use the export options in the product to copy them.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact our grievance officer. Once the relevant provisions of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 are in force, you may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
9. Children and students
Ranker Faculty is for adult educators. You must be 18 or older to create an account. There are no student accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal data about children. Please do not add students' names, photographs, marks, contact details or other personal data to papers or documents. If we learn that we hold a child's personal data, we will delete it.
10. Security
The whole site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). When invited accounts open, we will use one-time sign-in codes instead of stored passwords, keep each account's data separate, limit administrative access and keep backups. No system is completely secure. If a personal data breach affects you, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
11. Cookies and browser storage
- We use browser storage (such as localStorage and IndexedDB) to keep your papers, settings and light or dark display choice on your device.
- When a page loads, Cloudflare runs a short security check that helps tell people from automated bots. It may set a cookie or a browser session storage entry for this purpose only.
- When invited accounts open, signing in will use a cookie or similar browser storage that is needed to keep you signed in.
- We do not use advertising cookies, advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts.
12. Emails we send
Today we email you only to reply to messages you send us. Once accounts and checkout open, we will also send emails you need to use the service, such as sign-in codes, payment confirmations, receipts, refund updates and important changes to the service or our policies. We will send marketing emails only if you separately agree, and every marketing email will let you unsubscribe.
13. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices or the law change, and show the date of the latest version at the top of this page. If we make an important change, such as adding cloud save, we will tell account holders before it takes effect and ask for consent where needed.
14. Questions and grievances
For any question or complaint about personal data, contact our grievance officer, Vandana Yadav, at support@rankerfaculty.com. Full details are on the Contact Us page. We acknowledge complaints by email within 48 hours, with a reference number you can quote to check progress, and resolve them within one month of receiving them.
We handle personal data in line with applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules and, as its provisions come into force, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
